What We Say
DEERHOOF is John Dieterich, Satomi Matsuzaki, Ed Rodriguez and Greg Saunier. For over 20 years, the group has been an unparalleled force in modern music. Their fearless inventiveness has made them one of the most inspiring and important groups making music today. They played the Bottle three times in three years (2003-2005) before moving on to bigger stages around Chicago and the rest of the world. The only thing they see eye-to-eye on is the freedom to not see eye-to-eye.
At the onset of 2017, Joyful Noise announced that that DEERHOOF will be recording and releasing a variety of new music throughout 2017 as part of JNR's Artist In Residence series. Limited to 777 hand-numbered copies, it includes four split LPs featuring ONEONE, MURMURER, LES BON HOMMES, and NERVOUS COP, as well as a new proper DERHOOF album, Mountain Moves, all pressed on exclusive limited edition vinyl and packaged inside a custom wooden box set. As you might expect with a project this ambitous by one of the most forward-thinking bands of our time, the box set sold out instantly... DEERHOOF's guests on Mountain Moves include Awkwafina, Juana Molina, Mantana Roberts, Xenia Rubinos, Lætitia Sadier, and Jenn Wasner. Together, they made this record for you and tonight they play this show for you. For all of us.
