New Record Store To Replace Recently Closed Permanent Records

Chicago record shoppers were recently given sad news that Permanent Records, the renowned record store in Ukrainian Village, would be closing its doors to relocate to L.A.

With Permanent Records’ lease ending at the end of September, locals were awaiting a void to be left by the closing of the store, which existed in its location for more than a decade.

Yet, in a strike of good fortune for all involved, it was recently revealed that new owners would step in to open Joyride Records, a new music hub serving a similar function in the same location.

Permanent Records announced the news on Facebook just days before closing.

With no intention to waste time, Joyride Records will host an “Opening Party” on Saturday, September 30.
