Now... what format was it? A vinyl LP? A cassingle? 8-track tape? Think of the litany of devices you've had over the years to play your music collection at home and on the road. Consider the amount of times you've re-purchased (or re-acquired) some of your favorite tunes.
What was the the last music purchase you've made? For me, it was a subscription to Spotify Premium. We've come a long way in thirty years and this pie chart, originally published at digitalmusicnews.com, shows the rise and fall of the CD, slowly morphing into a big red Pacman and then expiring in the middle of last decade. It is actually quite informative and hypnotic. Given the experience that I've had with Spotify, I would expect subscription to become the grey Pacman of the next ten years.
Disappointed that my beloved DATs never registered once. Did they ever sell published music in that format?
