What you should take away: support your local music scene, generate buzz about your favorite bands via word-of-mouth. It's okay to enjoy the fruits of those 232 media executives who control what you see and hear (surprisingly some of that stuff can be good, too), but don't forget to actively look outside for art created on the fringe.
