So it's seems like the biggest trend in Chicago area jam-focused festivals is finding new locations. The latest festival, is Blottopia, whose hosts Mr. Blotto are leaving Elgin's Vasa Park after 11 years for a new location on the Illinois-Iowa border.
The dates remain the same (Friday July 27 to Sunday July, 29), but the new location is Iron Horse, located at 2877 Highway 67 in Sabula, IA. The venue is located on the Mississippi, less than three hours drive from Chicago.
The new locations boasts both a "quiet" and "loud" campground, restroom facilities with running water, and plenty of vending.
As is tradition, Blotto will play both Friday and Saturday (with their album cover encore on Saturday) with additional acts supporting at Saturday. Grateful String Bantd, an acoustic project focused on a Dead-centric repetoire will perform; stay tuned for additional artist announcements.
Tickets are available now directly from Mr. Blotto. Tickets previously purchased for Vasa park will be honored or refunded.
