There is something joyous and affirming that takes place as Deadheads celebrate Jerry Garcia's birthday and the "Days Between" each year -- sharing memories and music that has enriched in so many ways. But the mood can't help but turn slightly melancholic as the impact of August 9th sets in towards the end of the "eight day week". How profoundly the news affected our community that day cannot be understated.
I don't remember hearing this at the time, but the emotion the speaker's voice is one I'm entirely familiar with. Brings back a ton of memories.
