LISTEN | Greensky Bluegrass Performs Latest Album, Covers Set In Aspen

A post shared by Belly Up Aspen (@bellyupaspen) on

Wednesdays are always casual in the land of Greensky, but yesterday was -- as they say --  casual af.  After all, they were at the notoriously casual Belly Up in Aspen, Colorado.

After a happy birthday to Monica Bruzza, it was clear about four songs in that the band was playing their excellent latest release Shouted, Written Down & Quoted, in order.  They used the first set to complete the in its entirety.

But covers are a big part of the GSBG arsenal.  What do do about that?

Well, after the second set opening "Casual Wedensday" (of course), the band dropped eight consecutive covers including beloved cuts by The Allman Brothers Band, Bob Marley, JJ Cale, Grateful Dead, Prince, and two (!) by Bob Dyan.

Encore time.  How about some Eddie Rabbit yacht rock ("Driving My Life Away")?  The whole shebang closed with the original "Kerosene".

It has to be heard to be believed.  Thankfully, we can listen to how it went down thanks to Rob OBrien on archive.org and Johnny Hamblin's Mixlr Showreel:
