After this week's artist announcement, it looks like this will be another year that we won't be attending the biggest music festival that Chicago has to offer. Other pundits have already said it better than I can, but the prevailing thought seems to be that bigger and more diverse does not equal better. Certainly, the size seems to be driving a push for a more mainstream sensibility, without the risk-taking that was the hallmark of the nineties' touring fests.

I dug up this InfoGraphic, originally published by RedEye after last year's event, that gives a feel for the scope of the festival. Maybe having a look will reveal how a fest designed to appeal to everybody, can end up making hard core music lovers shrug...
