Photos / Audio / Video: Mr. Blotto & Family Groove Company, NYE @ Wire

Mr. Blotto and it's fans had plenty to celebrate as 2013 ticked to a close.  It was the year they put out their long awaited new CD, Thread.  They completed another circuit of their trademark Chicago area events, including a horn-fueled funktastic James Brown encore at the fourteenth Blottopia.

Singer / guitarist Paul Bolger, specifically had reason to celebrate, as he was a key player in the opening of a Wire, a new Roosevelt Road venue that packs a little something extra.  So it was fitting that the Berwyn club was the place the band gathered, along with dedicated fans and support from Family Groove Company to watch the calendar turn over.  Paul even dropped in to help out FGC with vocals on the Billy Preston classic "Nothin' From Nothin'" (check the video below)

We're pleased that Alex Mason was on hand to capture the event with his always excellent photography and that  complete audio was uploaded to archive for your enjoyment.  It contains a little bit of a lot of things that 2013 special: material from Thread, a reprise of the band's J.J. Cale tribute from Blottopia, a new cover (Kiss' "Rock and Roll All Night" to ring in the new year), and yes, plenty of good ole Grateful Dead.
