Rising star Gary Clark Jr. is doing exactly what a rising star should do. He sold out the Vic Theater last night, and though he had been through Chicago as an opening act and on festival bills in the past, this Theater gig was a bit of milestone. A sell out crowd pretty much puts the exclamation point on that.. His sound pretty much grabs anybody who is vested in the blues -- I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Chicago Theater in a matter of years.
He delivered a mix of his original material and classic blues from his influences: Hendrix, Collins, King and more. The reliable Wyatt Brake was on hand to capture the setlist, a nice three song video playlist and a handful of photos.
