Video: Ceiling Collapse At Concord Music Hall

Scary news from one of our newer local venues this weekend, when three men were taken to the hospital due to a partial collapse of the ceiling at the Concord Music Hall. The Chicago Tribune reports that vibrations from the music being performed may have played a role in the collapse.

Instagrammer nickmancero was on hand at the Datsik show early Saturday morning, approximately 1:25 a.m.

One of the victims is quoted in the Tribune, "All I remember was getting hit in the head and just falling. It just happened out of nowhere.”

But with only a few seconds of video to analyze, it appears that the ceiling may have shown some signs of distress prior to the coming down.  Both the poster of this video, and it appears at least one other cell phone videographer, had their cameras pointed, not at the performer, but at the ceiling during this point show.

Yikes!  The venue has closed and promised to make necessary repairs to ensure safety.  It will need to seek additional permits to reopen.
