Much attention has been given to a Chicago weekend that featured both UMBowl IV and an unpublicized fan-organized (Bill Graham for a day) Umphrey's show at Lincoln Hall on Saturday. But half of the band also appeared at a Thursday pre-party at Abbey Pub as a part of the fifth installment of the ongoing Full Court Press series of improv focussed super jams.
The last few installments have prominently featured Ray White, and this edition provided a nice blend of UM songs and Zappa favorites (among others... hello Beck). Marcus Rezak, Nicholas Gerlach and Greg Fundis join White, Cummins and Stasik in a few of these clips, while other one-time-only ensembles also played mini-sets throughout the night.
