In case you haven't heard, we're ALL IN on Tom Hamilton around here. And I guess that goes for all of Chicago, too.
He'll be back with American Babies in May, but not before he's part of two big nights with Electron in April. For those keeping score at home, Electron is the supergroup featuring Hamilton along with Marc Brownstein and Aron Manger from Disco Biscuits and Mike Greenfield of Lotus.
The band recently came off a two night stand at Brooklyn Bowl where they played a huge set of Pink Floyd tunes. Here they are jamming on "Have a Cigar" at last year's Gathering of the Vibes. You can stream or download the entire Floyd set at the bottom of this post via archive.org.
The creative folks at Otter Presents are making a weekend out of it, packaging a late night show at Hard Rock Cafe on Saturday, April 16th with one of their signature Top Of The Tower Jams -- from the 99th floor Skydeck of the Sears (*cough* Willis) Tower on Sunday, April 17th.
Night owl? Good for you... the Hard Rock show is going to go late. Like to strut your stuff? Otter is suggesting folks respect the unique space at the Tower by "dressing to impress".
That's a pretty tasty cake. The icing? The Tower Jam will feature an All Stars set that feature Umphrey's McGee's Joel Cummins, Disco Biscuits' DrFameus (aka Alan Aucoin), Brothers Past's Clay Parnell and both Adam "Shmeens" Smirnoff and Eric Benny Bloom of Lettuce. Gulp.
And who doesn't love the visual artistry of Jim Pollock? The linoleum-printer extraordinaire will be making a limited edition poster and handbill for attendees who donate 10 cans of food or more at the Top Of The Tower Jam as well as auctioning off some older prints.
Not enough icing? Otter is helping send a few of our readers to the Hard Rock show. Entering is simple.
