Pokey LaFarge’s new album, Something In The Water, was recorded in Chicago and comes out April 7. According to the singer, “the Midwest is at the heart of this record.”
Beyond the Midwest’s influence on the music, the songs feature members of Chicago bands The Fat Babies, The Modern Sounds and The Western Elstons, as well as notorious genre-benders NRBQ.
A music video for the album’s title track was released yesterday, and both the song and visuals are classic Pokey.
A fun, romping, old-time track featuring playful lyrics and outstanding musicianship, the song ought to have fans of the Bloomington-Normal-born songwriter excited for the upcoming release. The video matches the lyrics' playfulness, starring Pokey and a girlfriend in a series of hilarious and lighthearted situations.
