Another Summer Camp is in the books. Despite the many many festivals hosted in these parts during the summer, and and its sometimes schizophrenicbookings. it's still the closest think we have to Chicago to a major jamband festival. We'll even forgive them for taking place in the late spring. In the week since the festival...

Note: I originally started writing this last year for this show's 15th anniversary, but couldn't squeeze it out on time. Alas, here it is a year later. This post is to commemorate an anniversary, but the anniversary that was on my mind on May 8, 1997 was the 20th birthday of one of the most celebrated Grateful...

It pains me to admit that I've never seen the Mike Gordon Band perform live. I had tickets for his 2003 show at the Vic but my pregnant wife was refused entry with a roll of TUMS (security excuse: "homeland security") -- we got a refund and stuck around in Wrigleyville to watch the Cubs go...

But half of the band also appeared at a Thursday pre-party at Abbey Pub as a part of the fifth installment of the ongoing Full...

With so many live performance videos being unwatchable or unlistenable, it was so nice come across this document of Steepwater's 4/20 homecoming show. They've been hitting the road hard this spring, and for any Chicago folks who missed their return during this busy weekend, this recording feels just like being on stage with these guys. It...

I guesspermanenceisn't something one should expect from Ryan Adams, the notoriously mercurial singer songwriter. But I wish we could have the mid-to-late 00's heyday of the Cardinals back, where they played this otherworldly country-punkish-jamband music that simply sounds like nothing else. Or at least get to rewind to savor those years a little bit more....

Contributed By Mike Guzaski @312mrgAfter a week of crazy news, torrential rainfall and accompanying flooding, on Saturday (4/20!) Chicagoans were ready to let loose and liberate their inner animals. Animal Liberation Orchestra blew (both) doors off the Double Door with a explosive celebration of sound that balanced classics and newer material. From the moment they took...
