Well, I thought we were lucky when Phil broke out of his Terrapin Crossroads & Shapiro-venue exile for a pair of Riviera shows earlier this year.
But Chicago's luck continues -- we a hosting a full third of the shows on Bob Weir & Phil Lesh's first ever duo tour.
The March 10th and 11th Chicago Theatre shows will follow a pair in New York City and another pair in Boston.
They've even set up a new website at bobbyandphil.com with all the details.
Registration for the Ticketmaster Verified Fan Presale has already begun at https://bobbyandphilduotour.tmverifiedfan.com/ (provide an email and phone number and they'll text you a preale code for Thursday morning) -- general public onsale will be Friday, December 15 at 10am local time.
This new project came about as Weir and Lesh celebrated the 40-year anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s 1977 studio album Terrapin Station. The two performed at Lesh’s ownTerrapin Crossroads, as well as Lockn’ Festival and Sound Summit on Mount Tamalpais earlier this year. Fans can expect to hear Grateful Dead favorites as well as additional musical surprises. NYC-based independent promoter, Peter Shapiro will present the shows and has collaborated with Lesh and Weir for the past twenty years at his Capitol Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl venues, his own LOCKN’ Festival, and the acclaimed 2015 Fare Thee Well shows.
Weir explains the upcoming project, “I guess it was last summer, Phil and I played a little duo show….we had enough fun so we figured hey lets do this, lets make a little go of this.”While Lesh says “Playing with Bob always brings me great joy. The intuitive playing that we have developed over five decades of creating music together always leads to new realms of musical experience, something that I find especially exciting, and I think that fans of our music will enjoy this new format as much as I do.”
