On TV | The Wood Brothers on “Live From Here”

In this special edition of On TV, we're spotlighting The Wood Brothers, who will visit Chicago for a pair of shows this weekend at The Vic.  Their latest release One Drop of Truth is one of the more infectious folk rock records to be released this year, this is a band whose chops really pay off in the live setting.

Who: The Wood Brothers

What: The trio performs four songs from One Drop of Truth, during an appearance on Chris Thile’s “Live From Here" radio show.

You Need To Know: Brothers Oliver and Chris Wood are joined by percussionist Jano Rix, and together they are writing some songs that get you with just one listen. The band eases in with “Keep Me Around,” building up to the gorgeous “River Takes The Town.” “Laughin’ or Crying” has a louder, electric stomp, leading to the funky, infectious “Happiness Jones.” They then collaborate with Thile’s band and Phoebe Bridgers for Joe Henry’s “Our Song.”

The Chicago shows in support of this release are at The Vic Theatre on April 13th and 14th.  Nicki Bluhm supports Tickets are still available.
