The Cornmeal Thanksgiving in Chicago tradition has been going strong for many years, and even with some changing of the guard, the band is making a return to the Vic for the 2012 edition on (Black) Friday Novemer 23rd.
Last year's festivities included a show opening for Umphrey's McGee on Saturday and a rare club gig at Martyr's on Sunday. This year they are the headliners on the big stage, with Chicago's own Van Ghost providing an opening set. Cornmeal's Allie Kral has been known to be somewhat of an unofficial member of Van Ghost, having sat in so many times over the years -- so I'm expecting some collaboration on that front. Who knows, we may see some VG crossover in the Cornmeal set as well.
[Update 11/12] Jeff Austin of Yonder Mountain String Band will also join the band for a special acoustic set before the electric set. It's always a treat to welcome Jeff back to Chicago, and its clear that he loves to be back home.
Special guests Pete Kartsounes (guitar) and Drew Little (drums) will join the band for this gig.
Tickets will be $18 in advance and $20 day of show and can be purchased here.
