A new Chicago music festival called Mamby On The Beach is set to take place on Oakwood Beach July 11 and 12.
The beachfront festival boasts a lineup stocked with electronic bands and musicians, ranging from indie to pop to EDM.
Headliners will be Empire Of The Sun and Passion Pit, though the festival features an array of smaller names and local bands as well. Other notable acts include Phantogram, Matthew Dear, Royksopp, Robert Delong, and DJ sets from LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Cut Copy.
The tone of music seems to match the summer beach setting well, promising a fun experience utilizing the city’s waterfront.
A number of beachfront festivals have tried to establish themselves in Chicago in the past, such as Montrose Beach and Riverwest, but none have lasted as true staples in the city’s festival scene. With Mamby On The Beach being created by React Presents, the promoters behind North Coast, Spring Awakening and Wisconsin’s Summer Set Music Festival, perhaps this will finally provide the city with a much-needed annual beachfront event.
