Last month, director and band photographer Danny Clinch launched a Kickstarter to fund a documentary about Blind Melon’s frontman Shannon Hoon.
The documentary would largely feature unreleased home-video footage that Hoon recorded during the band’s rise to fame, prior to the singer’s untimely death in 1995.
The project is still looking for roughly $10,000 to reach its goal of $125,000, and contributors can receive signed books from Clinch, Hoon shirts and more.
To promote the project before its end, artists have been releasing Blind Melon covers on the Kickstarter page, with contributors including My Morning Jacket frontman Jim James and The Avett Brothers’ guitarist Seth Avett.
