We're resurrecting Symphony Sunday for a couple more weeks before we finish the series.
The Beatles made liberal use of horns and strings on their late period recordings. One might argue that the ability to replicate these sounds contributed to the end of their run as a live band. But, that doesn't stop Cheap Trick, who along with a diverse cast of special guests and the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra recreate the Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album, along with a host of other classics recorded in from 1967 until the Beatles' break-up.
These songs have been interpreted in many ways, but I argue that you just haven't heard "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" until you've heard Ministry's Al Jourgenson sing it with a symphony.
