With dozens of shows in Chicago and the surrounding areas, last night was the the first for Wilco at Chicago Theatre (if you except an appearance on Conan O'Brien's show that was broadcast from the venue).
Back in their hometown ("hello, neighbors" - Jeff Tweedy) and performing again for the first time since November, the band sprinkled in a few tunes from Star Wars and 2016's Schmilco into what amounted to a greatest hits style set.
It was not without highlights ("I Am Trying To Break Your Heart" > "Art Of Almost" got the full "China > Rider" treatment, Nels strapped on and sat down with a resonator on "Bull Black Nova", a crowd-song closing riff to "Spiders (Kidsmoke)) and plenty more A+ Tweedy banter.
