Conor Oberst is leaning in a folk-rock direction for his latest release, Upside Down Mountain under the guidance of producer/musician Jonathan Wilson.
To recreate the laid-back Laurel Canyon sound on the road, Southern Califnornia's finest, and Barn favorites, Dawes have been backing him on tour. The musicians found themselves in the Upper Midwest during the final days of May.
With two nights at Chicago's Metro (the 29th and 30th) and a date at Milwaukee's Pabst Theater (the 31st), each night featured an opening set of Dawes music and a long Oberst set which touched on Mountain and all aspects of his career.
Nearly the entire Milwaukee show and a few tunes from the Dawes set were captured by Paper Dolling Films. Full set lists are below.
