The middle night of the Greensky Bell's run picked up right where Thursday's opener left off. With a fine mix of more recent originals, some old favorites, and well selected covers, the band played to their improvisational strength as well as their diversity. The jam in "Copper Country" topped out at over 15 minutes, paving the...

A pretty great show from the couch! The audio stream sounded crisp and strong from the outset, as the familiar and seasonally appropriate chords of Alice Cooper's "School's Out" rang out. The surprise debut as show opener set the tone and featured members of the opener Appleseed collective. From there, it was a return to...

After experiencing my first Greensky Bluegrass Beer Garden opener last year, I was primed to make a return this year. However, life conspired against me and I had to bail.Luckily, a few of our correspondents will be on hand to cover it for the site and, the band is graciously offering a free audio...

In its 15thyear, Summer Camp Music Festival has become something of a rite of passage for midwestern music fans. There was plenty to like, but also a few miscues at last night's Dear Jerry tribute in Maryland. As far as the actual show, it was a mixed bag of interesting song choices, sit-ins, styles and artists. Light on jamming but heavy on showcasing the wide variety of musicians that were inspired by Jerry Garcia....

The 50th Anniversary of Grateful Dead unofficially kicks off tonight with a tribute to Jerry Garcia in Maryland. All of the "core four" GD members will be there with various outfits (and let's be honest, probably be on stage together for at least one song), as well as FTW band-member Bruce Hornsby. The...

Greensky Bluegrass must have been floating on air after performing a Dead fueled-set with Phil Lesh in California. But after a cross-country road trip post-show, the band found themselves literally underground... but it didn't stop the GD hits from coming. The band performed at McMinnville, Tennessee's Cumberland Caverns on March 29th as part of the...

Let's get this straight. I'm no fan of NBC's The Voice, nor of televised music talent contests in general... but this one hits a little close to home. The band Steppin' In It has been a staple of the Lansing, Michigan music scene for 15 years. I had the pleasure, last year, to see the band...
