Leave it to our friends Mr. Blotto to use their setlist to make a musical comment on Good Friday. That was the approach for their show at Fitzgerald's on Friday April 22 (a show that The Barn spotlighted), busting out a playful take on "What's The Buzz?" and "Strange Things Mystifying" from Jesus Christ Superstar before easing into "I Don't Work On (Easter) Sunday". They also capped the night off Old Testament-style with "Samson And Delilah"
Other show highlights included the breakdown jamming in "I Need A Miracle", with a cool blending of the Miracle riff with an extended, funky vamp based on the "Pink Panther" theme song and a strong, exploratory "1977".
The audio quality and mix on this recording is simply outstanding; certainly worthy of a commercial release. Yet, thanks to the generosity of Mr. Blotto and the dedication of those who record them (this is so well engineered it almost seems like a slight to label them "tapers"), here it is for free (via archive.org). Go see Blotto! And be nice to tapers!
