It's back!
Well, the ballpark has a different name and the White Sox have a different look than last year, but the promotional team knows a good thing when they see it and are prepping for the second annual Grateful Dead Night at Guaranteed Rate field, a 7:10 game vs. the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday, September 1st.
Despite not being a Sox fan, I attended the 2016 event and documented its highs and lows.
Much of the same template is being used for this year's event.
Buy tickets in advance and receive a GD/White Sox t-shirt (limited to first 1750 orders) and Chicago's own Terrapin Flyer with former Grateful Dead Tom Constanten will perform before and during the event. TC will once again throw out the first pitch.
While last year's shirt design emphasized the ballpark's iconic light-up scoreboard Steal Your Face-style, this year's has a black and white tie dye theme with the same Sox logo within the stealie.
New this year: you can also expect a post-game, Dead themed fireworks display.
Tickets and more information is available here. A recap of last year's event is here.
And once again... your move, Cubs.
