The Best Star Wars / Grateful Dead Images, Mashups & Merchandise

The Grateful Dead & Star Wars -- two undeniably great things, both appealing to the casual fan, but also offering so much more once you're down the wormhole.

So it's no wonder that so many fans, entrepreneurs and even the band itself has found ways to put imagery from these great franchises together.  Let's take a look at some of the best we've come across.  I'm sure there are many more -- go ahead and link em up in the comments section.

Let's move on to some stuff you can own.

These Dancing Bears / Star Wars character hybrids from Lot Life are actually getting fairly ubiquitous at shows, but never cease to make me smile nonetheless.  Available as pins or t-shirts, go out and show your loyalty.

The other great GD icon, the Steal Your Face skull, makes another great platform for fan art.  This Millennium Falcon takes the cake and pops up on Etsy on occasion.

But others have integrated the SYF with other Star Wars characters.  These are available at potentlifestyle.com.

This design has been around for a while, but this is the best version of it I've seen, with the "title scroll" on the back featuring "Dark Star" lyrics.  Available at stealicon.com the Deadheadland Shoppe (quaint Olde English spelling theirs not mine).

Of course, the Dead themselves did actually play a show on the May 25th, 1977, the day the OG Star Wars came out.  Leave it to friend of The Barn Scott MacDougal to incorporate light sabre imagery (with a Dead twist) in the official release packaging for Dave's Picks Volume One from The Mosque in Richmond, VA.

There were no shortage of memes last winter when the GD50 shows were announced.  Among the treasure trove over at treyfuldeadmemes.com was this Star Wars goof.
